Agra is also famous for its Marble Inlay Art. the most exquisiteinlay appears in the cenotaphs and the surrounding screen in tajmahal is called marble inlay. One flower in the screen around the tomb contains a hundred stones, each cut to the exact shape necessary and in the interior there are several hundred flowers, each containing a similar number of stones.
Shahjahan's love for gems was legendry. He was using gems for decorative as well as healing purposes. To do this marble inlay the best artists & craftsman of the empire were recruited and the finest marble was used.
