Mountaineering

It requires implicit physical ability and suitable equipment. The higher peaks need better equipment which is also rather costly. Yet the challenge ensure heal pressure for the climbers. Standing on the summit is only part of total enjoyment and satisfaction that one achieves from mountaineering and more so in the Indian Himalayas for most of the people Indian Himalayas are not climbable and one conjures up the version of in accessible mountains, hauling winds, freezing cold and terrible disasters. But for many it is a sport where having once gained the basic skills and attitudes, one can be in love with the mountains, passionately.

Principally there are three Indian states which tend to be the playgrounds for Indian and foreign expeditions.
1 Jammu and kashmir
2 Uttranchal
3 Himachal pradesh  -

In Himachal Pradesh the peaks around Manali form an interesting exercise for the beginners to go into Beaskund region only two days away from Manali. Here are the lower peaks of Hanuman Tibba(5,932 m).
Across the Rohtang pass into the Lahaul area are several interesting clusters of peaks of the Chandra, Bhaga range, the Koa kong range, and the Mulkila ranges. These peaks rise upto 6,500 m and offer the climbers a choice in technically difficult peaks, easy suoplod peaks or even rocky peaks.

Indus Valley Civilization

Indus Valley Civilization
Art by its nature is a visual commentary or a concrete manifestation of thought, which is abstract and invisible.

The field of art is wide consisting mainly three forms - architecture, sculpture and painting. The term architecture applies only to buildings.

Indus Valley Architecture

The journey of I.A begins with Indus Valley Civilization (3rd millennium BC). The remains of Harappa and Mohenjodaro cities reveal a remarkable sense of town planning. The buildings made of burnt and unburnt bricks, often of two or more storeys, were arranged on grid pattern. were strictly utilitarian, without decorative motifs or plasters, and seem to have been built with skill and a sound knowledge of building principles. Pillars, corbelled arches, stair cases etc were used.

The most outstanding examples, of architecture of this phase are the great bath at Mohenjodaro and the citadels and granaries of two cities.

Canoeing And Kayaking

In all shorts of river water sports the real adventure begins upstream where water is wild and white as it flows between thunderous rocky outcrops namoeing gorges and as the gradient drops sharply. There is a pleasure of gentle canoe trip in a light weight alloy - metal craft which holds two to three people. The gradient best suited for canoeing is the stage near the river's entry into the plains where the trip can be combined with moderate in king a naturalist holiday in the forest.
Canoeing And Kayaking

The suitable areas are Rishikesh, Dakpathar and Ramganga in Uttaranchal.

For the slightly more adventures Kayaking is appealing as it enables innovation on the river by a solitary oarsman or two seated in tandem. The degree of difficulty would depend on the river gradient and its rapids.
Experience of paddling is desirable.

The suitable period for all sorts of river running depends on the adequacy of water volume. September to November and March to April and May are the most appropriate.
